Doing Disney The Right Way: Fastpasses

Fastpasses are truly a blessing. Fastpasses are a blessing because you can wait in line without actually waiting in line.

What exactly is a fastpass?
A fastpass is a ticket that you can get by using your park ticket that lets you skip almost to the very front of the line on a attraction. Almost every ride has a fastpass, and even more rides will be getting fastpasses soon with the Fastpass + feature Disney is enhancing.

How do I get a fastpass?
At almost every attraction in Disney there are Fastpass Kiosks (like in the photo to your right). All you have to do is put your ticket that admitted you into the park and a fastpass for that attraction will pop out. On the fastpass there will be a specific time and you have to return within that hour.

Basic Fastpass Tips & Facts
  • If the line is less that 30 minutes don't get a fastpass, you don't need a fastpass with a line that short
  • You will only be admitted on the ride with you fastpass on the hour, as why there is a specific hour on your fastpass.
  • The most popular rides fastpasses sell out first, so if you plan on getting on those rides, get your fastpasses first!
  • In Magic Kingdom, most of the Fantasyland Fastpasses are in the same area. (Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan's Flight, Phillharmagic, and Journey to the Little Mermaid: Under the Sea)
  • Fastpasses will be your bestfriend.
  • Some rides you need to get a Fastpass for (i.e. Peter Pans Flight, Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, etc.) or the lines will be really long.
  • You can only have one fastpass at a time, so be conscious of what fastpass you want to get!

Doing Disney the Right Way: Magic Kingdom

First things first, I am so glad you have decided to take a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth! If you have never been you are going to fall in love, or if you have been I am glad that you are coming back. It is full of magic and excitement, hey I even still get excited and I have been forty-five times! Walt Disney World has four theme parks and two water parks; Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios), and Animal Kingdom. Each park has something to offer for everyone.

Today, my focus will be the Magic Kingdom!

Magic Kingdom, which is the heart of Walt Disney World. As soon as you step into this park the magic will surround you! Magic Kingdom has seven lands (if you didn’t know, I am sure most of you do haha) Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Storybook Circus (which was just added this year!), and Tomorrowland. Along with that, each land has top attractions you MUST hit.

Mainstreet USA – Where you can get your fix on the heart of America and the heartbeat of a holiday! This is where the best shops in the parks are, make sure you visit the Emporium and visit the firehouse to get your Sorcerers of the Kingdom cards! This is also the best place to view the parades and fireworks!

Things to Do:

  • Shops
  • Best Viewing of the Fireworks & Parade
  • Walt Disney World Railroad
  • Get a photo in front of Cinderella’s Castle!
  • Crystal Palace Restaurant

Adventureland – Love this place as well! It is full of Adventure, hence the name! You can sail on a jungle cruise or even run into Captain Jack Sparrow himself! Be careful though, you never know what is going to happen when you are in Adventureland! Make sure you try some Dole Whip, you will not regret it! Posted below are my personal favorites/must do’s!

Must Do's:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Enchanted Tiki Room
  • Try a Dole Whip Float

Frontierland- Perfect place to get your fix on cowboys, pioneers, and even go to the gold rush! Frontierland is the perfect place to hang out and just have a great time in the wild wild west! There are many attractions here, including two of the famous Magic Kingdom mountains.

Must Do's:

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Splash Mountain
  • Tom Sawyer Island
  • Pecos Bills (restaurant)
  • Also a great viewing place for parades!

Fantasyland – Where the magic lives, and you really feel like you are in neverland. This is personally my favorite land, I love starting my days off here. I swear, I could spend my whole day here. Although this place has changed around a lot it is amazing now because of the Fantasyland Expansion. This tends to be the longest lines for the rides, my best advice is to rather come knock these rides out at rope drop, or get fastpasses first thing in the morning.

Must Do's:

  • Peter Pans Flight
  • Mickey's PhillharMagic
  • Enchanted Tales with Belle
  • Many Adventure of Winnie the Pooh
  • Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid
  • Meet all the characters in Fantasyland
  • Be Our Guest Restaurant
  • Cinderella's Royal Table

Storybook Circus- although, this is sometimes considered a part of “Fantasyland” I still consider it on its own since there is so much to do! This actually used to be called “Mickey’s Toontown Fair” but they completely renovated it and turned it into Storybook Circus! This land actually just opened March 2012.

                                                                                    Must Do's:

  • The Great Goofini
  • Big Top Souvenirs
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Liberty Square: The smallest land, but that doesn't make it less important. Liberty Square is home to one of my favorite attractions... The Haunted Mansion, Liberty Square is also home to the Riverboat and Hall of Presidents! It is also a really pretty land as well!

Must Do's:
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Liberty Square Riverboat
  • Colombia Harbour House
  • Hall of Presidents

Tomorrowland- Calling Mr. Morrow… Mister Tom Morrow! That never gets old. Tomorrowland is home of everything futuristic and is home to some of Disney’s most visited attractions. It is a great place to enjoy your time so don’t miss out!

Must Do's:

  • Space Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
  • Carousel of Progress

Lastly, here are some events during the day that you can’t miss!

  • Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade (3:00 p.m. daily)
  • Wishes! (hours change daily, check times guide in park!)
  • Celebrate the Magic (check times guide)
  • Electrical Parade (check times guide in park)
  • Dream Along with Mickey (check times guide)

I hope you are all savvy on all things to do with the Magic Kingdom! I will go more into food at a later date.. of course… I mean everyone loves Disney food!  If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or requests for my upcoming blog posts please message me on any of my social networking sites. I would love to hear your input!  And remember Magical Tips makes every Disney Trip a great one!

Who Am I?

Hey guys! My name is Marisa and some of you may know me as disn3yw0rld on twitter, tumblr, and instagram! As time goes on I realized that I should make an actual blog so I can give you guys a story on who I actually am and my journey to Disney.

First things first, I will give you a more in depth story of myself. I am an eighteen year old girl who is currently living in North Carolina (I say currently because I hope to be moving to Florida soon). Ever since I can remember Disney has been a huge part of me, and more importantly my life, a dedication, and an honor. Disney is much more to me than just the parks and movies, it is hard to explain. My dream in life is to be a cast member and no matter what journeys I have to go through to make that happen, I will.  I am a freshman in college majoring in Sustainable Tourism & Hospitality with the aim to work in the Hospitality field in Disney. I plan on applying to the Disney College Program during my college career. Disney makes me truly happy and is something that I will always have. I have been to Disney 45 times, and my heart still drops every time I see Cinderella's Castle. Being in Disney just gives me a feeling of happiness, and I only hope that I can eventually share the magic with others each day.

Here is a Disney FAQ & some of my favorites:

How many times have you gone? I have gone to Disney 45 times!
How many times a year do you go and when? I typically go 3-4 times a year. (March, July, September, and December)
